In today’s We’re Open report, a locally owned physical therapy center that has been serving the Coastal Bend for three decades is spotlighted.

Humpal Physical Therapy, 5026 Deepwood Circle is preparing to celebrate 30 years of service at their main location just off SPID between Weber and Everhart.

Owner Scott Hhumpal also operates locations in Calallen, Alice, Portland, Aransas Pass and Rockport.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Humpal has been determined to stay open so he could service his patients.

These includse Janie Montgomery, who had double lung transplant surgery last year. She comes three days a week and says her rehab is what keeps her going.

"If I had just laid in bed and not done anything I might not have lived after the transplant surgery because I needed to get up and get moving," Montgomery said. "And Humpal has done that for me and more and they have really encouraged me.”

On an average day, Humpal sees nearly 100 patients a day. And regardless of their ability to pay, he never turns anyone away.

He believes all local businesses owners have an obligation to give back to the community.
