CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Many Latin families in the Coastal Bend are buying their meat seasoned with Cuban spices from 'El Bodegón Cubano' and are cooking it at home.
The market located at 2621 Main St in Ingleside. It is also a restaurant that serves authentic Cuban plates, spices, and canned goods.
"This restaurant, the idea came from wanting to share a little bit of our culture," said owner Yohan Martinez. "As you can see we Cubans are very proud of our homeland and our culture and the way that we do that in this little restaurant is through the food."
Martinez said they have been in Ingleside for more than two years serving the most popular Cuban sandwich and the Cuban plate with shredded beef, and black beans with white rice. He said when the pandemic hit in 2020, his restaurant took a hit financially just like other local businesses around the Coastal Bend.
In the future, Martinez said he is looking to add breakfast tacos to his menu.
