One woman dead, one injured in Molly's shooting

One woman is dead and another was injured after an shooting late Tuesday night at Molly's Irish Pub.

Corpus Christi Police Department Sr. Ofc. Travis Pace said when officers arrived at 11:03 p.m., they found one woman dead at the bar, and other who had been shot in the torso. She was taken to a local hospital.

Officers were able to get a description of the shooter. The suspect was found in the area, and fled on foot. Molly's is located on McArdle Road.

After what Pace called a "short foot pursuit," the suspect was taken into custody on the 4900 block of French.

"It's not a random act of violence," he said. "We don't have much more details at this time."

The women were shot during the bar's annual St. Patrick's Day party.

The shooter faces one count of murder and another of aggravated assault. Officers were still searching for the weapon.

"They're still investigating," Pace said. "They're still interviewing witnesses to try and get everything that happened. Right now, it's still very, very early in the investigation."
