After a historic 20 rounds, eight competitors have been named co-champions of the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee.

The eight, spelled the final 47 words correctly, going through five consecutive perfect rounds.

Although the bee had decided to split the first- and second-place money; in the event of a tie, those plans changed and each speller was given the full $50,000 cash prize in addition to a Scripps Cup.

Four of our Coastal Bend students took part in the completion.

We want to wish them all a job well done.
