The Corpus Christi community came together at the former Sears parking lot, located at 1305 Airline Road, with a mission to help local students succeed in their remote-education courses.
A device drive-through let residents drop off laptops, printers, headsets, or tablets, for households which only have one device.
“We’re helping kids get connected so that way they can keep up with their online learning,” said Corpus Christi District 2 City Councilman Ben Molina.
Volunteers said they are working with local school districts to see how to help children, and alleviate their fears of not having their own device.
“So there’s a need for it for our community,” Molina said.
