The Texas Department of Public Safety has issued a correction about two of their employees testing positive for COVID-19.
DPS released information on March 9 about two employees testing positive for the novel coronavirus. According to DPS, one of those employees wasn't honest.
"In our efforts to notify and work with the public health authorities, it has been brought to the department’s attention that this individual provided us with false information."
The Carrollton Driver License Office employee actually tested negative for the virus and the department is "taking the appropriate disciplinary actions."
"We are deeply troubled that any inaccuracies were provided to the public based on the information given to us by one of our employees," said their press release, "The department is taking additional steps to ensure that this does not happen again."
The other employee worked at a separate office but all drivers license offices have been closed due to the virus. Therefore, Drivers License and vehicle registration expirations have been extended as well. Drivers are encouraged to renew licenses and registration online.
