Two candidates have announced their candidacy for the Corpus Christi City Council via Facebook Tuesday.

Kaylynn Paxson, who unsuccessfully ran as an at-large candidate in the 2018 council election, plans to run for the District 4 seat.

Previously filed candidates for District 4 include retiree Dan Grimbso and incumbent and business owner Greg Smith.

Liz Perez, the executive director of the Corpus Christi Maternal Mental Health Coalition, filed for an at-large position on the council.

She joins realtor Myron Grossman, incumbent and consultant Michael Hunter, legal assistant Deanna Michelle King and former Nueces County Commissioner Mike Pusley.

Candidates for the open City Council positions, which are contested every two years, must file intentions to run by 5 p.m. on August 17.

The election is Tuesday, November 3.
