Virtual learning is in full swing for students, but many parents may be having technical problems or even problems logging on to certain programs.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, several school districts have had to embrace remote learning.
Two types of virtual learning exist, and both are interactive and fairly understandable for parents, family members, and students. Corpus Christi ISD Director of Instructional Technology Cary Perales has some tips to help make parents' lives easier.
“Every night before you want to make sure you have an area in the house with the device, you want to make sure your device is close to the router or to the hotspot," Perales said. "You don’t want to have your kid in the bedroom far away from the hotspot or the router."
Make sure you can connect to Zoom, or any other app used for teacher-to-student learning.
“So test it out before you start, so that way you don’t have anxiety about being late to the Zoom meeting," she said.
Also, just because you are at home does not mean your student doesn't need supplies.
“You want to make sure you still have paper, pencil, crayons, and markers, all those supplies around your child so they are accessible,” she said.

Perales said she knows how stressful online learning can get.
“It is stressful, everyone has to work, getting your kids started, and then having to get to work and then you’re worried about your kiddos," she said. "We are all aware of it and we are trying really hard to support it. It will take some time.“
