ARANSAS PASS, Texas — A high-speed chase involving Aransas Pass Police ends in a major arrest.

Aransas Pass Police believe they uncovered a massive theft ring after placing a man and woman behind bars.

Officers also say this is still an ongoing investigation.

However, many victims from these burglaries can now get their belongings back.

This took place in the early morning hours of October 15th, 2019.

Before the arrest was made officers say they had to be smart with their strategy.

Aransas Pass Police say 21-year-old Chase McDonald and 19-year old Reagan Gauvreau are from the San Antonio area but have been transported to the San Patricio County Jail after being and arrested and charged with breaking into several vehicles and stealing many personal belongings.

Police say they found the two targeting cars at an apartment complex.

As soon as the two saw police, they took off and that led to a high-speed chase across the City.

Officers say the duo was traveling in a stolen white pick-up truck which they crashed in some brush.

They were later found at the Studio 6 in Ingleside.

“They apparently passed out, the young man and young woman passed out in the front seats of the pickup truck,” says Aransas Pass Sgt. Frank Kent.

That's when police found a massive amount of stolen items in the truck and among the many stolen items, officers also found a gun, marijuana, and methenamine.

“We've identified some of the victims already there were a lot of ID cards checkbooks and stuff that they had stolen while they were doing vehicle burglaries,” says Sgt. Kent.

Aransas Pass Police also stress that drivers must always lock their car doors because that will help prevent others from taking your belongings.
