Portland police have made an arrest in Monday's Gulf Coast Credit Union robbery.
Victoria resident Marcus Shade also is suspected of robbing the Portland locations of IBC Bank and Prosperity Bank, in crimes dating back to November, along with seven banks in Austin. He also has an outstanding warrant for an aggravated assault in Nevada.
Portland Police Chief Mark Cory said his detectives worked through the night after Monday's robbery gave them information they previously didn't have, such as a photograph of the suspect and a description of the vehicle he was driving.
They then contacted the Victoria Police Department, who extradited Shade at about 10 a.m. Tuesday. He was being questioned by Portland police Tuesday afternoon.
The 40-year-old currently is being held on $1 million bond, and is awaiting transfer to the San Patricio County Jail.
