CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — TxDot's massive ramp reversal project on SPID is right on track. It's the second largest road construction project in the county.
The purpose of the $55 million project is intended to increase traffic safety and traffic flow by turning current highway exits into on-ramps and current on-ramps into exits.
The majority of the work is being done at night to minimize the impact on drivers and businesses along SPID.
"It goes through what has kind of become the city's business district with the mall, with Moore Plaza on the other side. So Tex-DOT takes this into consideration," said Rickey Dailey, PIO for TxDOT.
The project has been divided into ten phases.
Dailey says the project should be completed by 2022.
