CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Island residents are seeing signs of growth in the shape of a grocery store. Currently, residents must drive over the JFK Causeway to get to the nearest grocery store or buy what they need at convenience stores which can get pretty expensive.
Work is now underway on a new development on Park Road 22. The IGA store was actually supposed to be open this summer. It was delayed after it was discovererd that the site was on wetlands and a flood plain. And there were no sewer lines.
Developers now hope that the business will be open in the first quarter of next year. The name of the new development is the Balli Center and it will include other retail sites in addition to the IGA.
