CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Selena now has her own altar in downtown San Antonio.

Acccording to WOAI, the altar was unveiled Sunday as part of the annual Dia de los Muertos even also called Muertos Fest. The altar is called "La Reina" and a statue of Selena catrina singing is at the center. It's set up at the corner of South Alamo and Market Streets at nearby Hemisfair Park.

The statue stands at 10 feet tall and is adorned with more than two million beads. The largest sculpture at Muertos Fest took two months of non-stop work by 40 indigenous Huichol Artisans in Mexico.

Selena Quintanilla-Perez was an international Tejano superstar from Corpus Christi. She was fatally shot in 1995.

The altar will stay up for a week. Visitors are encouraged to leave an ofrenda (offering.)

Dia de muertos starts Thursday, October 31 (Halloween) and ends on Saturday, November 2 (All Saints Day.)
