According to the Alice Echo, Brian Maldonado has been confirmed dead due to injuries he suffered in the Caldwell oil rig explosion.
His family told the Alice Echo that 25-year-old from San Diego had third degree burns over 90 percent of his body.
Maldonado was the last of three men injured in the explosion. All three are now deceased due to the explosion.
The incident was first reported as a fire at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29 south of Caldwell on County Road 127 off of Farm-to-Market 60.
