The City of Robstown is getting a new fire engine and a new ambulance. The city has been awarded a half a million dollars from the HUD Community Development Block Grant Program.

The City applied for the fire, ambulance and service truck fund. The City says the grant allows them to serve more communities beyond the Robstown area.

"The Robstown EMS departments not only serve the City of Robstown but we also serve Western Nueces County rural areas and so this benefits us, this benefits rural Nueces County, and alleviating the tax burden," said Beatriz Charro, Robstown City Grants Administrator.

The City of Robstown currently has three ambulances and three fire engines. The new units should be ready in six to nine months. They will replace units that are at least ten years old or older.
