Water restrictions could be down the pipeline for those of us who live in Corpus Christi.

It's already happening in San Antonio and we could feel the pinch if we don't get some major rain in the next few weeks.

Under the city's Drought Contingency Plan, Stage 1 restrictions kick in when the combined storage levels drop below 40 percent of capacity.

Mayor Joe McComb warns we're headed in that direction if we don't get the rain - and get it soon.

“Our capacity right now, we're not under any restrictions now,” McComb said. “But if we don't get some rain in the next couple of weeks we may end up being right at our Level 1 where we have to go into the first step of water restrictions.”

If we go into Stage 1 water restrictions, that would mean restricting watering with a sprinkler or irrigation system to once a week.

Watering with a hand-held hose would be allowed any day of the week.

Restrictions would be lifted when the combined storage level climbs past 50 percent.
