Public invited to presentation on Electric Vehicles, Charging Stations and the Nueces Electric Cooperative Initiatives

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Electric cars and charging stations are the topic of discussion at an upcoming Coastal Bend Bays Foundation meeting. The public interest organization is hosting John Weber, the Captain for National Drive Electric Week- Corpus Christi and Albert Garza with Nueces Electric Cooperative Energey (NEC) on Monday.

Weber will discuss Electronic Vehicles (EVs) in Corpus Christi, specifically, why there aren’t more of them in the area, where you can find locations of charging infrastructure, and what can be done to promote more EVs in this area. According to the conservation group, Weber has a personal interest in the use of renewables. Throughout his life he has converted his personal home to a passive solar house, his sailboat and vehicle to solar charging fully electric systems and much more. He has been promoting and driving electric vehicles since 2006.

Albert Garza is the Business Development Director for Nueces Electric Cooperative Energy (NEC). He will share the ways NEC supports EVs and expanded charging infrastructure in Corpus Christi.

The presentation is Monday, September 9 in room 106 at the Del Mar Mar Center for Economic Development located at 3209 S. Staples Street. It's on the corner of Kostoryz Rd. and Staples St. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. Starbucks will provide refreshments.
