A new traffic light is going up at a busy intersection in the Gregory/Portland area.
Gregory police Lt. David Martinez said traffic at this intersection of State Hwys 35 and 361 has quadrupled in the last several years because of the growing amount of industrial activity in the area.
That's led to a slew of accidents as well.
So the city has installed a set of traffic lights in hopes of preventing those wrecks.
Yesterday, crews were making adjustments to the devices.
For now, they're flashing red and yellow until they go into service within the next couple of weeks, Martinez said.
