The City of Corpus Christi is working with a Brownsville housing development organization to convert an old park into an affordable housing community.
Tomorrow, the city council will discuss offering the Community Development Corporation of Brownsville an incentive agreement of $154, 227. The group which operates under the name of "Come Dream. Come Build." has proposed building several affordable homes at an old park at 4017 Capitol Drive, near Weber and Saratoga. The park was decommissioned by Voters in November 2014.
The group has submitted a design of the proposed community. Part of the agreement requires the group to complete the project within two years following the approval of the plot with the city.
If the homes are not built within that time, the developer will have to reimburse the city.
