Pedestrian killed Monday night, identified

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — Investigators with the Nueces County Medical Examiner's office has identified a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Monday night.

23-year-old Caleb Fuentes died Monday night. Police say Fuentes was not crossing the street at a designated crosswalk.

Lieutenant Steven Gonzales says the incident happened Monday evening around 7:40 p.m. in the 5400 block of Saratoga Boulevard near Staples Street.

Fuentes was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The driver has not been identified.

Police urge pedestrians to cross at crosswalks and be mindful of surroundings in low light.
