The Padre Island National Seashore (PINS) reports flooding after Hurricane Laura made landfall in Louisiana last night.
"Last night the seashore experienced substantial coastal flooding, and currently the water is still up to the dunes," said a post from the PINS Facebook page.
PINS officials also said the park is open with Malaquite Beach and boat ramp access. However, the entirety of the beach isn't open quite yet.
"North Beach and South Beach down to the Mansfield Channel are still closed until the risk of flooding has passed," said the post from PINS.
An update about opening the rest of the beach is pending.
People visiting the beach are warned to watch your step for debris.
It should also be noted that the picnic tables in the provided photos were placed there preemptively by staff before the storm.
