CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Small business owners face many situations and obstacles while keeping their brands afloat. One of the many the setbacks that local small businesses have to deal with is theft.

One local business owner is telling others to stay vigilant after her merchandise was stolen by thieves.

Staff with Peace of Mind Massage Therapy & Natural Healing have been in downtown Corpus Christi for a decade.

In 2018, this small business installed security cameras. With what they captured, they say they do not want another small business owner to come face to face with thieves.

“We just try to support local and you know we're all organic and natural we just try to put everything that we can into our services,” says Jynelle Ornelas-Stanton.

Just after midnight, surveillance video captured two people going out of their way to steal her outside plants.

Ornelas-Stanton believes this theft was planned.

When looking at the video you can see and man and woman tying up the pant which was made with local materials.

“We just want to make sure that not only do we protect ourselves, but we let the local business owners like, ‘hey’ keep an eye out because if they are doing this to me you could be next,” says Ornelas-Stanton.

Her outside plants are also used for customers.

Jynelle says the security cameras added to her building are a game-changer.

She can now capture suspicious activity and share a warning to other business owners.

Jynelle says her plants are important to her business and says she will now have to either bring her outside plants indoors or cement them to the ground.
