Though many city park playgrounds mostly sit empty these days, Corpus Christi City Council approve a six month service agreement to have new playground equipment installed at city parks.
On Tuesday, city council agreed to hire PlayCore Wisconsin, Inc. dba GameTime for $739,150.85. Besides installing the playground equipment, the company headquartered in Tennessee will prepare the ground for installation of poured-in-place rubber fall surface. The equipment was previously purchased with a matching grant from GameTime. Old playgrounds will be removed by Parks and Rec construction crews.
The parks getting new playgrounds are Schanen, West Guth, Cullen, North Pope Park, Aquarius, Brockhampton, Dan Whitworth, St. Andrews, Oso, South Bay, Hudson, Glen Arbor, Sugar, and Collier.
The Parks and Rec Department says this will help it meet its goal to increase recreation opportunities and activities as part of its 2012 Master Plan.
