CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — If you plan on attending a high school athletic game at Buccaneer Stadium or Cabaniss Sports Complex a.k.a. as Cabaniss Field, be prepared for a new policy to be enforced this school year. The Corpus Christi Independent School District is implementing a new clear-bag policy during school sporting events. The district says the decision was made to improve safety and security.

According to a press release from CCISD, this new guideline will help enhance the components of Bond 2016 and Bond 2018 in creating a safer environment for everyone. Any visitor, spectator or patron attending an event held at these venues will be required to follow this procedure for high school and middle school events.

Clear tote bags may be plastic, vinyl or pvc. They may not exceed 12 inches by 12 inches by 6 inches. A small clutch bag no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches─ approximately the size of a hand─ (with or without a handle or strap) is approved. Other bags such as backpacks, diaper bags and camera bags, etc. will not be allowed in the stadium.

Two local companies will be the official supplier of these tote bags, HEB Stores and Mira’s Sports and More. HEB will offer these bags during their Back to School package. Mira’s Sports and More will offer the bags at their retail store.
