Update 5:44 p.m.: It appears the fire is out. Traffic is still moving at a slow pace.

Fire crews in San Patricio County are working on a massive brush fire on State Highway 35 between Gregory and Aransas Pass.
Four fire departments are working jointly to put out the fire.
San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera says the smoke is quite dense creating a poor visibility condition for crews.

Around 4:45 p.m. the Aransas Pass Police Department pushed an alert on their Facebook page:
Highway 35 bypass is closed northbound lanes towards Rockport just before FM 3512 which is the road to TP McCampbell airport due to brush fires at this time, will update when road is opened.

At this time, a cause as to what sparked the fire and what time it actually started is unknown.

This is a developing story. We will update it as more information becomes available.
