CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — "Skip the Plastic" is a group that hopes to set a positive example by making the shift to reusable shopping bags or other alternatives to help save the environment.

The group strives to showcase individuals making a difference for the environment, and now, they are changing up how they honor people.

In addition to recognizing people who use resuable bags instead of plastic, the group is now also recognizing people who pick up trash at parks and at the beach.

The First Clean Up Hero is Cliff Schlabach, the chair of Corpus Christi Surfrider Foundation Chapter. He's an advocate for clean bays and beaches.

"Skip the Plastic" hopes these showcases will inspire others by showing one person can make a difference.
