CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Tis' the season of giving and getting good dental health.
Staff with the Corpus Christi General & Implant Dentistry are accepting cash donations so others can have a great Christmas.
Proceeds and hard work from dental professionals are going to benefit organizations in Corpus Christi.
The team plans this event a year in advance so that way everyone’s contribution can take full effect.
Once a year, staff with the Corpus Christi General & Implant Dentistry open their doors for an extra day out of the week putting in some overtime without pay.
They will treat patients with cleanings and other treatments for a full day and the money earned will go back to local non-profits.
“The staff was really motivated and really enjoyed giving to the community and it was a really meaningful way doing what we do best and then being able to give back to charities,” says Dr. Michael Elizondo.
Dr. Elizondo says this business tradition started when Hurricane Harvey hit our area.
The team wanted to do their part to assist people who have been affected by the storm.
The money they worked hard for was donated to the Rockport-Fulton Good Samaritan and was able to help many storm victims get back on their feet.
“Between the last two years we gave over $27,000 in two years so we think we should be able to really do if not the same this year as the past hopefully more,” says Elizondo.
The community is invited to stop by and donate.
For 2019, workers are splitting their donations between two organizations; the Gulf Coast Humane Society and the Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend.
“What's really neat, the team really pushed that, so it really speaks to the culture of our office which is really nice in trying to give back to our community,” says Elizondo.
If you would like to donate you can do so at their office which is located at 3420 South Alameda Street.
