CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — “I believe that it is important for all of us to treat people the way they want to be treated,” said Rev. Claude Axel with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Rev. Axel was born in Taylor, Texas and raised in Granger. Axel says he was called to the church and currently stands at his 59th year in the ministry.

“I genuinely love all people especially all people. I enjoy working with people, especially young people,” said Rev. Claude Axel.

Throughout the years, Rev. Axel has been president of many organizations along with participating in many boards and has a big heart for education.

When it comes to reflecting on black history, Axel says he’s thankful for the month of February and seeing the accomplishments of many African Americans.

“We now see a movement of other races are truly joining in and sharing and saying the same things about the dignity of our race of people,” said Rev. Claude Axel.

Rev. Axel encourages others to not be afraid to take a stand which can help open several doors for many generations to come.

“And just like the others, you can make a difference, so don’t let nobody stop you. They may deter you for a moment but you keep fighting, you keep trying, and you keep holding on because God will make a way for you,” said Rev. Claude Axel.
