CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — If you had a jury summons for Monday, you don't need to show up.
All jury trials set for next week at the Nueces County Courthouse have been canceled.
Action was taken today following a meeting of the board of judges.
This is in response to guidance from the CDC about reducing the numbers of large crowds.
While jury trials have been canceled, other court business will continue as normal.
Judge Nanette Hasette of the 28th district court says, "Don't be afraid to come to the courthouse, just, we are just trying to eliminate any impact this virus will have in our community by avoiding the large crowds and large gatherings."
Individual courts will also try to reduce or cancel the number of hearings they have on their dockets.
Next week, the board of judges will meet to discuss using video conferences for inmates for hearings.
