INGLESIDE ON THE BAY, Texas — Ingleside on the Bay is under a water boil notice caused by the extreme cold weather in the area over the last few days.

Ingleside on the Bay Mayor Jo Ann Ehmann confirmed the water boil was issued Tuesday morning.

"We came back with a problem with our water yesterday," she said. "It dropped below a required pressure and we're still working on it. We issued a water boil notice until we can get it cleared."

Ehmann said two "good tests" are required before the water boil will end. She expects it to last for three to four days, perhaps earlier if they can get scheduling done for the testing.

"It’s not comfortable, but it’s one of those things," Ehmann said. "Our residents have been out of water for 1½ days because of electric outage and other issue with water distribution. It's a combination of things. Hopefully they understand. It’s not issued lightly. We want to get them water but make sure they are safe."

Ehmann said it will be the first water boil issued in her city since Hurricane Harvey in 2017.

"They aren't happy about it, especially when they don't have electricity," she said.

Water during the boil can be used for showering and toilet usage, but it can't be drink or used to prepare food unless it has been boiled, she said.

"It's uncomfortable," Ehmann said. "But it has to be done."
