CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A house fire in Alice claimed the lives of four cats.
According to the Alice Fire Department, the fire broke out on Thursday around 2 p.m. at at two-story home on Dewey Street.
When firefighters arrived, they found the two-story home covered in flames.
Crews tried to battle the fire from inside but had to retreat. They were able to make headway from the outside.
After the fire was completely out, crews discovered four cats inside. All four died.
No one was inside at the time and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation as of Thursday evening.
