Some of the city's homeless now have access to medical attention thanks to a partnership between Christus Spohn Health System and the Catholic Diocese of Corpus Christi.
The Christus Spohn care van has set up shop outside Central Catholic Elementary School at the 1200 hundred block of Comanche.
This mobile health clinic will be providing health assessments, flu shots and referrals to the homeless in the area every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during October.
This outreach has already had a huge impact on the city's homeless.
“People that I never thought would change are actually changing the way they are and the way they are treating other people,” said Julie Villegas, a homeless person. “A lot more respect is going on so I'm thinking thank you so much and please continue because I want to see a big change in the community, so thank you.”
Doctors will do follow up visits on Wednesdays.
Everything is free of charge.
