SINTON, Texas — What if your entire town could receive a makeover?

Restoring historic buildings, renovating homes and revitalizing diners, parks and recreation areas.

There's a new reality show coming next year to HGTV that will do just that.

Area towns are aiming to get on the six-episode show slated to air in 2021.

"Growing up here is just a great place to grow up," Sinton native Barbara Lopez said. "I have kids that I wanted to bring up in that same environment. So I made the move."

Lopez recently moved back to Sinton after living in the Houston area. She said she was disappointed to see nothing in Sinton had changed.

"What can we do? Because everything is the same," Lopez said. "The same broken windows. The same unpainted buildings. There's just a lot of things that haven't changed."

Luckily for her, she saw a post on Facebook by one of her favorite networks, HGTV. They were in a nationwide search for small towns under 40,000 population to makeover.

"I said 'oh my gosh, we have to do this!' So right away I shared it on Facebook and was just trying to rally like, 'Come on Sinton! Let's do this!'"

That is exactly what community leaders and residents did.

After a couple meeting they were able to and create a one-minute video along with the town's storyline in time for the show's submission deadline.

"We got new businesses coming in," Gloria Luna said. "And so we just want to show those coming in that it's all about Sinton!"

Luna, who works for the San Patricio Sheriff's Office, was one of the first people to reach out to Lopez willing to help.

While the steel industry is already making way for new jobs and housing developments for the town of almost 6,000 residents, Sence says the town is still in need of a face lift.

"We just need a little boost," Sence said. "Our spirit hasn't brought us down, but our town look -- that's not us. That's not who we are. We just need some help."

Kingsville and Premont are also hoping to appear on the show.

No word on when the town selected will be announced.
