Former Robstown High School pitcher Jesse Garcia was arrested last week on drug charges during a traffic stop.

The 22-year-old former standout and Jesus Rojas IV, reportedly Garcia's 19-year-old cousin who police said was driving the car, were found with felony amounts of drugs including THC, alprazolam and ecstasy.

According to the arrest report, the alprazolam -- better known as Xanax -- was "packaged for sales."

The officer who conducted the stop said in the report that he pulled the car over for for a defective license plate lamp. He said when he went to carry out the stop, he could "smell the odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle."

The officer said after he showed Rojas the broken light, he asked him if there was anything in the car that would get Rojas "in trouble." The officer said Rojas said there wasn't.

After getting permission to search the car, the officer said he found a loaded .38-caliber revolver under the driver's seat.

He said he then found a black bag that, when searched, contained "clear packaging that contained a green leafy substance," and "individually packaged small zip-top bags with green rectangular pills"-- marijuana and Xanax, according to the report.

Dabwoods 85 percent potency THC vape cartridges also were found in the search, and the officer said Rojas told him some brownies in a container in the back seat were "going to be 'weed brownies.' "

After the two men were restrained and read their Miranda Rights, Rojas admitted to selling the drugs, and having the gun because he had recently been the victim of an attempted robbery.

He admitted the narcotics and weed brownies were his, but that the cartridges were Garcia's. Garcia also admitted to possessing the cartridges, and said the two had been in Banquete 'doing drops.'

He also admitted to having marijuana "inside of his shorts," according to the report.

Police found a total of $1,147 in cash on the men. They also admitted most of it was from drug sales.

The drugs weighed out to 11 grams of THC in sealed cartridges, .8 grams of ecstasy and the 47 pills totaled 18.4 grams of alprazolam. The two ecstasy pills found, Rojas said, were for personal use for when he "goes out to party."

Rojas was charged with marijuana possession, the manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully carrying a firearm. Garcia is charged with the manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance. They were both booked into the Nueces Co. Jail.
