CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Firefighters with the Nueces County ESD #2 are asking help for one of their long-time supporters who helps children.
According to a post on their Facebook page, it states, "Flour Bluff/Padre Island communities, we need your help in supporting our dear friend Leotta Gaines who makes our Dalmatians every year for our Christmas float, she is experiencing some significant medical issues and is in need of blood donations."
The post states Gaines is "A POSITIVE."
Gaines is known to the community after creating hundreds of stuff toys for children who donates the items to firefighters to help children.
Even though she spent her birthday in the hospital, Leotta had this to say to all of those if they want to donate.
KRIS 6 News spoke to Gaines last year who said, "There's a lot of children out there. Ill, in the hospital, leukemia, heart problems, they need help. And that's what I'm here for. That's why I'm still on this earth. That's why I haven't gone on. The making something for a child to make a child's life a little bit easier."
You must make an appointment to donate blood, but if you are able and have this blood type, you're asked to please donate it under "Leotta Gaines."
