Update 11:09 p.m.: The Corpus Christi Fire Department says the fire began between the house and a structure behind it. The back porch was fully engulfed in flames when crews showed up. No one injuries were reported as no one has been living there for over a month. Crews aggressively battled the blaze before it could spread to nearby houses managing to also work around an electrical line on the ground. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
According to CCFD, this is the second time the house has caught on fire in less than a week. A small fire erupted last Sunday that burned an exterior wall in the back and a portion of the roof.
Update: At 9:30 p.m., KRIS photojournalist says the fire has been extinguished.
A major fire broke out a house near the Crosstown Expressway Friday night.
It started around 8:30 p.m near Hancock and 15 Streets.
Witnesses say a house and a car were fully engulfed in flames that could be seen from the freeway.
The cause of the fire or extent of damage is not known at this time.
