CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Jesus Ybarra is described by his family as a man who loved his famil and was a great uncle and a father figure.

Police say 57-year old Ybarra was walking near Rodd Field Road and Yorktown Boulevard when he was hit by a vehicle, dying at the scene.

Ybarra's niece, Ana Villarreal, said Ybarra suffered from brain complications that cause seizures and swelling. And on Wednesday, he left their home on foot.

His family was worried.

Later Wednesday night, authorities came to the home and told her how they suspect Ybarra died.

“How do you just leave someone out there?” said Villarreal.

The family said it needs answers, and is asking for anyone who knows or heard anything to come forward.

A gofundme account also has been established to help bury Villarreal's Uncle "Chuy."

Police also urge anyone with information to contact the Corpus Christi Police Department at (361) 886-2600, or make contact with lead investigator Senior Officer Richard Olden at (361) 886-2688.

Those who want to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 361-888-TIPS (8477).
