CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Last week we met a local man who builds electric bikes and cars for a hobby.

And out of the kindness of his heart, he wanted to give away an electric bike to someone who really needed it.

Today, he found that person.

The man who built the bike is Mike Barnes.

The man he chose to gift the bike to is named John Garrison.

"He's got a positive attitude." Barnes said. "Everybody's gonna have a positive attitude because they see a nice electric bike here. Right. But he's got a future, and he's got everything. All his ducks are in a row."

Garrison is from East Texas, but been a resident at Mission 911 the past few months trying to turn his life around.

He's going to school to get his certification for a trade.

So the bike's going to help him do that and other things.

And perhaps more importantly, he's clean and sober.

But he never anticipated this gift.

"I was astounded," Garrison said. "I was astounded when the director called me into the office and asked me about my school. Stuff like that. How I was doing? I'm thinking what's this all about. Then he said there's a gentleman that wants to give an electric bike away. And I'm like, I was in tears. I've been praying for something like this to happen."

By the way, Barnes received another call from a man down on his luck in life.

And Barnes wants to help him by building an electric bike for him, but he needs some financial help.
