You could face some serious fines and charges if you decide to drink and drive this upcoming holiday weekend.

DPS Troopers say they are stepping up DWI enforcement as we head into the Fourth of July holiday.

Sgt. Nathan Brandley says they expect many people to head to other family members' homes and drink alcohol since most businesses are closed.

If you do plan to celebrate, make sure to have a "game plan" heading back home instead of getting behind the wheel. Sgt. Brandly encourages people to have a designated driver and to utilize apps like LYFT and UBER.

According to the TXDOT website, you could face fines up to $17,000 and could lose your driver's license.
