Wounded Department of Public Safety Trooper Moises Sanchez has died.

Juan Chuy Hinojosa memorialized him in a post today.

"Today our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Trooper Sanchez who has made the ultimate sacrifice for our families," the post say. "I also appreciate the healthcare teams that cared for Trooper Sanchez while he fought bravely and courageously these past four months. May he Rest in Peace and be in Heaven."

Weslaco television station KRGV reports that Sanchez was readmitted into surgery Friday morning, a day after he had his final scheduled procedure.

Sanchez, 49, was wounded during a routine traffic stop near Edinburg on April 6.

Police have reported that Trooper Sanchez suffered a gunshot wound to his head and shoulder. Numerous procedures have been performed over the past few months to treat his injuries.
