CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 12-year-old Corpus Christi sexual assault case has been solved thanks to DNA evidence.
43-year-old Jerral Martin was in a Nueces County courtroom this morning when pleaded guilty to aggravated-sexual assault.
Prosecutors say he attacked the woman in April of 2007. After the incident, the victim went to a local hospital and underwent a sexual assault examination. DNA was found but never matched to a suspect until now.
Martin is currently serving a life sentence in a Florida prison for sexual battery. That's where his DNA was recorded. The DNA matched the evidence in the local case.
According to investigators, the victim did not know Martin, but they believe he was Martin had information about her.
