CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Giving Season is upon us and Cosmetology students at Del Mar College are wishing for gifts of hair this holiday season.
They don't mean buying a gift certificate for services or hair products. The students want to cut off your locks and donate them to a deserving charity, Locks of Love.

The cosmetology program is holding a Locks of Love Donation Drive this Saturday, November 23. Anyone with non-bleached hair at least 10 inches or longer are encouraged to stop by. Colored or permed hair is acceptable for donations.

The Cosmetology Glam Squad, made up of 25 students in all levels, will provide free services for allowing them to cut off ponytails to give to Locks of Love. Locks of Love is a national nonprofit organization that will use the donations to produce real human hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children and young adults who have lost their hair during cancer treatment or to diseases that cause hair loss, such as Alopecia and Autoimmune Disease.

The donation drive is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 208 (Cosmetology Lab) of the Flato Technology Building on the Del Mar College West Campus at Boaz Blvd. off Airport Road. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment, contact DMC faculty member Sandra Shelton Flinn, assistant professor of Cosmetology, at 698-1799 or sdflinn@delmar.edu.
