Car-lot crash victim dies of injuries Wednesday

UPDATE (4:52 p.m. 5/27): Romeo Romero, the man involved in Sunday's accident, died Wednesday. A family friend has confirmed to KRIS 6 News that has been removed from life support.

A man was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries after he crashed into a parked display vehicle at a car lot.

Corpus Christi Police Lt. Gabe Garcia said that at 12:26 p.m., police were dispatched to a major accident at the 3000 block of S.P.I.D.

Reportedly, the driver was heading westbound on South Padre Island Drive and he went across the access road into the lot of Ed Hicks Nissan.

The driver has been taken to the hospital and the investigation is ongoing.

The access road was shut down from the entrance ramp past Kostoryz up to the next exit but traffic appears to be back to normal now.
