CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A heavy presence of construction can't be missed on Morgan Avenue and it's affecting businesses in the area.

Business owner Susana Almaguer says the construction along with bumper to bumper traffic can cause some headache, but she realizes work on Morgan is much needed.

Cones, barriers, detour signs, along with massive construction equipment are all items you can find on Morgan Avenue.

“As a business owner, you think okay, game plan, like what am I going to do? How am I going to handle this but slowly but surely I'm having to kinda take it day by day,” says Almaguer.

Susana Almaguer is the owner of the Coffee Mugg, the construction has blocked off an entrance to her shop and she says she doesn’t want her customers to steer away.

This stretch of Morgan Avenue is getting a facelift, improvements include new pavement, curb and gutter, upgraded sidewalks, ramps, signage and much more.

Susana says the finished product, will be worth it but now it's just a matter of waiting.

“I can't really complain because we totally need that repair, so I mean yes, it is going to be quite the dark tunnel but there is a light I'm looking forward to that,” says Almaguer.

The city anticipates having construction completed by the end of July 2021.
