A 17-year-old man is in Nueces County Jail after being arrested in connection with the shooting of a 14-year-old boy Friday night in the 1900 block of Horne Road.

Corpus Christi police say that Ivan Farias has been arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection with the death.

CCPD Senior Officer Travis Pace told KRIS 6 News that the department received a call at 6:06 p.m. on Friday for possible gunfire and people screaming at the 1900 block of Horne Road.

When officers arrived at the residence, they found several juveniles and a 14-year-old boy deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim's identity has not been released yet.

Pace said the scene was cleared and an investigation was conducted. CCPD investigators initially believed the shooting was an accident caused by juveniles playing with a gun.

Officers took several witnesses to the police station.
