Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office identifies victim in fatal Thanksgiving Day gas station shooting

The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man who was fatally shot outside a gas station on Interstate 37 near Navigation Road on Thanksgiving Day as 47-year-old Esteban Ramirez III.

Robbery Homicide Detectives made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting after following up on several leads from witnesses, which aided in identifying the offender.

Police officers arrived at the 1100 block of Manchester Ave. at a residence around 9:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving night. in search of the person wanted for the shooting.

"The offender fled the residence on foot but was quickly located and taken into custody. He was transported to the main police station for interviewing," said Senior CCPD Officer Antonio Contreras.

According to CCPD, the offender, 33-year-old Julian Rodriguez, was transported to the City Detention Center, where he was booked for Murder and Evading Arrest.

"Both parties were known to each other," added Officer Contreras.

The identity of the victim will be released once the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office conducts an autopsy.

The Corpus Christi Police Department is currently working on a fatal shooting case that took place on the city's Northwest side.

According to CCPD officials, police received a call around 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28, for a shooting at the Circle K on Interstate 37 near Navigation Road. Officers found a man lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound when they arrived.

The man was taken to the hospital to be treated but later died due to his injuries.

The shooting suspect ran off. As of right now, CCPD can not determine if the shooter and the victim knew one another.

Robbery Homicide Detectives are reviewing the surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses in order to pursue any possible leads.
