Corpus Christi Mayor and City Council have approved the replacement of several aged ambulances and fire trucks for the Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD).

The items were approved for lease purchase at Tuesday's city council meeting.

"The Fire Department will receive three ambulances, an aerial fire truck, and two fire engines totaling approximately $4 million," says a press release from the city of Corpus Christi.

New units will replace old units and be assigned to fire stations 1 and 5. Old units that are salvageable will be salvaged.

“The Corpus Christi Fire Department is very thankful for Council approval of this much-needed equipment. This is part of City Manager Zanoni’s fire department equipment replacement plan to ensure our fire fighters have the very latest and updated fire equipment,” said Fire Chief Robert Rocha.

According to that release, the funding comes from the FY 2021 General Fund Budget through FY 2026.
