CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces River Authority announced the results for tests it did on blue-green algae recently found in local waters.
The agency found blue-green algae in waters in the Live Oak County area. The agency was trying to determine if it was a similar toxic blue-green algae that killed a dog swimming in the Guadalupe River near Austin. Two other states also reported pets died after making contact with the algae.
Samples of the local algae were tested yesterday and the Nueces River Authority confirmed today that the blue-green algae found in the Coastal Bend county was not toxic.
