Property owner Josue Rodriguez says he is searching for answers after thieves broke into his storage unit and took off with his tractor.

The theft happened over the weekend from his 6-acre open field located in the Molina area.

“You know I would like to get it back if I can,” said Rodriguez. Rodriguez says he was lost for words when discovering the doors of his storage unit wide open and the tractor was gone. The tractor was used to help build a church on the open property.

However, a global pandemic has placed that project on pause, and now the recent theft has pushed Rodriguez back even further.

“And then this COVID came up practically everything dissolved because of the circumstances that we are facing now and having said that we just put those plans aside,” said Rodriguez.

Additional security measures such as more locks on the storage unit have been attached and Rodriguez says this was a $40,000 lesson he hopes no one else will go through.

“I don’t know why they do it. It’s valuable equipment and it’s big to the point where they can’t just get rid of it overnight,” said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez says if you have any information about this theft, call 361-658-4040 your helpful tip could lead you to a $2,000 reward.
