PORTLAND, Texas — The big football showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be taking place Sunday.
As many fans will get ready to cheer on their favorite team, area businesses are getting ready to open their doors for an influx of customers.
Workers with Hardknocks Sports Bar & Grill know that it’s going to be a very busy Super Bowl weekend. Staff said they are excited to see their customers. They also said their main priority is to keep customers safe while they enjoy the big game.
“We’re just trying to keep everybody safe, our bar seats are spaced out our tables are spaced out,” said general manager of Hardknocks Sports Bar & Grill in Portland Tx, Ron Selman.
Selman said there will also be a heavy staff presence come Super Bowl Sunday. The business has updated its bar with more drink selections all in preparation to serve customers.
“The original is on Everhart, this one in Portland, the new on the Island, that’s been open for about three or four weeks, we’re expecting all three locations to be packed out,” said Selman.
As many eyes will be glued to Hardknocks’ multiple televisions playing the big game, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines will still be enforced.
“Like I said we’re going to have a packed house so we definitely have the hand sanitizer everywhere because I know when the touchdown gets scored there might be some fist bumps some high fives and occasionally a customer may hug each other. We’re going to do everything we can, everybody comes in safe everybody goes home safe,” said Selman.
Customers are required to wear a face mask before entering and walking around the restaurant. Selman said customer patience will make operations go by even smoother.
Staff said preparing now and having the upper hand come Super Bowl Sunday is key.
